Project¶

A project is the central planning unit in Rillsoft Project. It contains activities, subprojects, dates, resource demand, assignments, costs, and control information.

Important Properties¶

• name, code, and description

• start and finish date

• project calendar

• customer, category, status, and priority

• project manager or responsible person

• resource model: project resources or shared resource pool

Usage¶

A project is used for scheduling, resource planning, variance analysis, and output. In a project portfolio or summary project, it can be evaluated together with other projects.

Typical Errors¶

• project without a clear calendar

• local project resources instead of a shared resource pool

• missing status and priority values in portfolio work

• baseline saved only after major plan changes
