Baseline¶
A baseline is a saved reference state of a project. It is the basis for variance analysis, project controlling, and status reporting.
Contents¶
A baseline stores relevant plan values, for example:
dates
effort
costs
resource information
working time and calendar context
Usage¶
Baselines are used to compare current project values with an earlier approved planning state. Several baselines can document different planning states.
Dynamic Baseline¶
The dynamic baseline can use a suitable reference state per activity when several baselines exist. This is useful in longer projects with regular progress tracking and approved plan revisions.
