Use Task and Subproject Tables¶
Tables are the fastest way to review many tasks or subprojects for missing data and inconsistent dates.
Use tables when you need to compare many rows, find missing values, or adjust columns for a planning review.
Workflow¶
Open the table that matches the planning question.
Show columns for dates, duration, progress, dependencies, and responsibility.
Sort and filter to find empty or exceptional values.
Edit simple values directly where supported.
Return to the Gantt chart to confirm schedule impact.
Adjust table columns¶
Use Format > Columns to choose which fields are visible in the task or subproject table.
You can also open the table properties from the column header context menu.
In the column layout dialog, add or remove standard fields and user-defined fields according to the planning question.
Useful fields¶
Warning: shows overallocated or failed resources and late tasks.
Duration, Start, and Finish: expose date and duration issues.
Predecessor and Successor: show the planning chain.
Roles, Teams, and Employees: show assignment status.
Balance: helps detect demand that has not yet been assigned to named employees.
User-defined fields 1 - 20: support local reporting and filtering needs.
Typical table checks¶
Tasks without duration or with very long duration.
Tasks with fixed dates although a dependency would be more appropriate.
Tasks without predecessor or successor in the active planning chain.
Subprojects with inconsistent start or finish dates compared with their contained tasks.
Rows where progress, actual dates, or assignments no longer match the current reporting date.
Check the result¶
The table exposes the issue.
Bulk edits have not created unintended constraints.
The Gantt chart explains the result.
